RUSSELL SANGIOVESE (100% CALI FRUIT)

SOLD OUT!
2022 RUSSELL SANGIOVESE $25
Cienega Valley, CA
100% Sangiovese

The vineyard comprises decomposed Granite and Limestone at 1100 feet in the Gabilan Range. This region has moderate temperatures, which allows for a long growing season. As with all wine, “it is made in the vineyard.”

Lively aromas open to layers of cherry blossoms, followed by a pretty floral expression of red rose. Our 2022 Sangiovese is full-bodied and backed by a subtle herbaceous component that balances an abundance of fruit. This is a memorable wine with a tantalizing mouth feel and a smooth, lingering finish.

2024 ROSATO SANGIOVESE ROSE'

SOLD OUT!
2024 SANGIOVESE Rosé (Dry, not sweet) 750ml $25
100% Sangiovese

Our 2021 Rosato rosé was made from Mourvèdre grapes, but Erich has always wanted to make a Sangiovese Rosato. Finally, after months of negotiations, we have convinced our winemaking partner in California to make the wine with us. The new Passione Divina 2024 Rosato will be made from grapes picked at lower brix (lower alcohol), pressed in the morning, and then barrel fermented using only the natural yeast present in the grapes. This Rosato came from the same vineyard as our 2022 Russell Sangiovese.

In Tuscany, most Rosato is made by simply draining Sangiovese grape juice out of the fermenter after a couple of hours (This is called “saignée,” which is French for “to bleed.” That method involves “bleeding off” some red wine during fermentation and using that to make everyday rosé). We are making the extra effort to press whole-cluster fruit and not just saignée bleed-off for this wine.
